Trial attorneys and plaintiff's attorneys work on a contingency basis. In the past, they used their own capital to pay for the prosecution of their clients' cases, leading to cash flow issues. This cash crunch has become increasingly more common in recent years. A new type of funding, case cost funding/case disbursement funding, enables trial attorneys to finance their clients' lawsuits with non-recourse funding advances. Case cost funding enables attorneys and plaintiffs to secure greater rewards, with less risk and less stress.
